This position is paid through an Exxon Mobil grant that is funded to pay selected Lamar students to tutor one hour per week in the assigned Charlton-Pollard 1st grade classroom for each week that school is in session from Oct. 1, 2025, through May 22, 2026.

PRIMARY

PURPOSE:

To improve the academic performance of struggling students in reading.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

* Current Lamar student

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

* Tutor struggling students in reading using the Beaumont ISD-provided resources and training

* Follow all directives as assigned by the supervising teacher

* Supervise students in the tutoring setting under the direction of the supervising teacher

* Model exceptional behavior at all time

WORKING CONDITIONS:

* Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to instruct

* Maintain emotional control under stress

* Work with frequent interruptions

* Normal Office Environment
