The Instructor's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing instruction for students enrolled in Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics courses (along with other related courses and topics). This individual is also responsible for maintaining office hours; and teaching extended day classes, labs, and hybrid/online courses, as required, both on campus and at alternate locations. This individual helps coordinate and attend advisory committee meetings;

attends workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills; assists in the development of curriculum, as needed; and maintains program computer labs. All LIT faculty are responsible for recruitment and retention.

• Actively engage students in the learning process
• Maintain ethical and professional behavior
• Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
• Participate in college service, which includes but is not limited to committee work, advising and/or tutoring students, and recruiting
• Teach classes during the fall and spring semesters as required by the department (might include day, evening, weekend, and Early College High School/dual credit); including online courses
• Provide mentorship to dual credit partners/mentees
• Attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions to enhance teaching skills
• Stay abreast of national matters and trends in education
• Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum
• Assist in the development of curriculum as needed
• Perform other related duties, as required

• Master’s degree in Biology/Physics/Chemistry or Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the subject
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
• Possess good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Possess good time management skills

• Experience teaching in higher education
• Doctorate degree in subject area
• Related field and/or industry certifications

This position requires the ability to: remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.
