Job Summary

This position is responsible for teaching courses as assigned for students enrolled in dual credit courses. This position may require teaching onsite at a local Independent School District or via online instruction.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses as scheduled and actively engage students in the learning process
  • Maintain one office hour per week per course
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings
  • Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels
  • Complete required training, such as Blackboard Certification, Title IX Training, etc.
  • Must have reliable transportation for travel to assigned instructional sites
  • Utilize LIT’s Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) to continually hone and improve professional knowledge and teaching skills
  • Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Appropriate degree, in accordance with specific program instructor qualifications. For example, some programs require a master’s degree, while other, more technical programs may require an associate degree and/or industry certification or license.
  • Experience requirements will vary depending on discipline being taught.
  • Specific Certifications/Licenses may be required depending on discipline being taught.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Awareness of national issues and trends in education and related field
  • Ability to use computers for email, word processing, and basic spreadsheets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in higher education
  • Experience with Banner, Blackboard, Starfish, etc.

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.
