LIT's Annual Security Report is provided in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 USC 1092(f), 34 CFR 668.46). The report contains information regarding campus safety and security, including topics such as: campus law enforcement authority; crime reporting policies; campus alerts (Timely Warnings and Emergency Notifications); programs to prevent dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking;

the procedures the Institute will follow when one of these crimes is reported; and other matters of importance related to security on campus. It also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in non-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the Institute or a recognized student organization, and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

Job Summary

The Adjunct Instructor’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing instruction for students enrolled in courses within the Manufacturing and Trades Technology (MATT) department at Lamar Institute of Technology, including dual credit high school students. Courses and programs within the MATT department include:

Advanced Engine Technology – current need
  • Automotive Technology
  • Electrical Technology
  • Heating Vent and AC (HVAC)
  • Industrial Mechanics Technology
  • Plumbing Technology
  • Welding Technology
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Teach courses as scheduled and actively engage students in the learning process.
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings.
  • Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels.
  • Complete required training, such as Blackboard Online Instructor Certification and Title IX Training, etc.
  • Utilize LIT’s Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) and Sam Houston State University (SHSU) Faculty Online Development Training to continually hone and improve professional knowledge and teaching skills.
  • Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Appropriate degree, in accordance with specific program instructor qualifications. For example, some programs require a Master’s degree, while other, more technical programs may require an Associates.
  • Work experience in the specifically-targeted program or related field.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies.
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess good time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in related coursework.
  • Experience teaching in higher education.
  • Related field and/or industry certifications.
Supplemental Information

Physical Requirements

  • Remaining in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally moving about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; constantly operating a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.
