Job Summary
Provides academic instruction within the Department of Health and Kinesiology. Plans, coordinates, and conducts classroom and/or lab experiences for students. Support services in a scientific laboratory by preparing and setting up class materials, creating exams, training and supervising student researchers, assigning and assembling equipment for experiments, teaching laboratory and/or lecture classes. Obtains and maintains CITI training and Blood Borne Pathogens training.

- Teaches and evaluates students in practicum, laboratory, and/or classroom settings.
- Participates in planning and organization of courses to which assigned.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of course activities.
- Incorporates new knowledge and educational strategies in classroom and laboratory teaching.
- Provides academic advising/counseling to assigned students.
- Maintains academic standards as established by the Department of Health and Kinesiology, College, and University.
- Participates in Department activities associated with professional status.
- Provides service to the department and profession.
- Participates in Department activities associated with professional status.
- Displays a scholarly orientation to the assumption of the responsibilities of a university faculty member.
- Utilizes teaching-learning principles appropriately;
- Serves as a knowledgeable resource person to students and the community;
- Shares professional expertise at the local level;
- Maintains currency in evidence-based practice;
Minimum Qualifications
- MS in Kinesiology or a closely related field.
- Experience with various chemistry assays and ability to maintain the analyzers.
- Previous experience as a teaching assistant and/or student researcher.
- Experience with various equipment used in exercise physiology lab courses and exercise science research, knowledge of various exercise tests associated with exercise science.
- ACSM-EP or ACSM-CEP or NSCA-CSCS certification
- Experience teaching exercise physiology lab or didactic courses
- Ability to calibrate and maintain a Parvo Medics True One metabolic cart
- Experience teaching exercise physiology, evaluating students in practicum, laboratory, and/or classroom settings.
- Knowledge of exercise physiology and biomechanics
- Knowledge of basic laboratory safety
- Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally
- Experience in instruction and supervision of students
- Working with minimal supervision
- Valid driver’s license and approval to operate state-owned vehicles
- Basic computer skills
- Able to lift 50 pounds and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks, including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing, and walking between buildings.
