Job SummaryThe Instructor for Utility Line Technology’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing instruction for students enrolled in Utility Line Technology courses (along with other related courses and topics) in the Technology Department, including dual credit high school students. This individual is also responsible for maintaining office hours; and teaching extended day classes, and hybrid/online courses, as required, both on campus and at alternate locations.
This individual attends workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills and assists in the development of curriculum, as needed. All LIT faculty are responsible for recruitment and retention as a part of achieving the Institute’s Shared Vision of Growth and Excellence.
- Actively engage students in the learning process
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
- Participate in college service, which includes but is not limited to, committee work, advising and/or tutoring students, and recruiting
- Actively participate in retention initiatives
- Teach classes during the fall and spring semesters as required by the department (might include day, evening, weekend, and Early College High School/dual credit); including online courses
- Provide mentorship to dual credit partners/mentees
- Attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions to enhance teaching skills
- Stay abreast of national matters and trends in education
- Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum
- Assist in the development of curriculum as needed
- Perform other related duties, as required
- A certificate or higher degree in Utility Line or related field from a regionally accredited institution is required. Please submit official transcripts with application.
- Experience in all aspects of utility line
- Minimum of 5 years in Utility Line field
- Possess a valid and clean CDL
- Working knowledge in Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of Blackboard Learning Management System
- Teaching experience
