Job Summary
Provides academic and practicum instruction within the JoAnne Gay Dishman School of Nursing. Plans, coordinates, and conducts classroom and/or practicum experiences for students. Reports to the Associate Director for Undergraduate Nursing Studies or the Associate Director for Graduate Nursing Studies (depending on course taught) and the Director of the School of Nursing.
Essential Job Functions- Teaches and evaluates students in practicum, laboratory, and/or classroom settings.
- Maintains academic standards as established by the School of Nursing, college, and university.
- Participates in course and program development including planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of assigned courses and related activities.
- Engages in professional and instructional growth, incorporating new knowledge and techniques into practicum, classroom, and laboratory teaching, and contributing to School of Nursing activities.
- Master’s degree in nursing.
- Licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.
- Experience in clinical nursing.
- Experience instructing or precepting students.
- Effective teaching skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of clinical nursing practice and ability to assist students in practicum activities.
- Awareness of current issues and trends in nursing.
- Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
Able to lift 25 lbs. and perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing, and walking between buildings.
Job ConditionsClassroom and laboratory settings in a temperature‑controlled environment.
