Willie Ray Smith (BISD) is a public school in Beaumont, Texas, serving approximately 587 students in grades 6th-8th. The district is committed to providing high-quality educational opportunities that prepare learners for college, career, and lifelong success. There is a $7,000.00 stipend for certified Math and Reading Teachers. Certified Science Teachers will receive a $3,500.00 stipend. Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Math/Reading Teacher role based in Beaumont, TX. The Math/Reading Teacher will plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons aligned with district curriculum and state standards in both mathematics and reading. Daily responsibilities include differentiating instruction, providing targeted reading and math interventions, monitoring student progress, and using data to inform instruction. The teacher will maintain a structured, positive classroom environment, communicate regularly with families and colleagues, and participate in grade-level meetings, professional learning, and school-wide initiatives.

The role also involves supporting students’ social-emotional development, collaborating with support staff, and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment that promotes academic growth for all learners.

Qualifications
  • Valid Texas teaching certification (or eligibility) in appropriate subject/grade area.
  • Demonstrated teaching and education skills, with experience designing and delivering standards-based math and reading instruction.
  • Reading intervention skills, including the ability to assess literacy levels and implement targeted strategies to support diverse readers.
  • Writing and literacy instruction skills, with the ability to integrate writing across content areas and support students’ written communication.
  • Experience or interest in working with middle school students, including understanding of their academic and developmental needs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
  • Strong classroom management, differentiation, and student engagement skills, with a commitment to inclusive and culturally responsive practices.
  • Ability to use assessment data and instructional technology to support learning and track student progress.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
