Job SummaryThis position is responsible for teaching courses as assigned for students enrolled in dual credit courses. The instructor may teach onsite at a local independent school district or via online instruction.
Responsibilities- Teach courses as scheduled and actively engage students in the learning process.
- Maintain one office hour per week per course.
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings.
- Assess courses at departmental and institutional levels.
- Complete required training, such as Blackboard certification and Title IX training.
- Must have reliable transportation for travel to assigned instructional sites.
- Utilize LIT’s Teaching and Learning Center to continually hone and improve professional knowledge and teaching skills.
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Appropriate degree in accordance with specific program instructor qualifications (e.g., a master’s degree, associate degree, or required industry certification or license).
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good time‑management skills.
- Awareness of national issues and trends in education and related fields.
- Ability to use computers for email, Word documents, and basic spreadsheets.
- Experience requirements will vary depending on the discipline being taught.
- Experience teaching in higher education.
- Experience with Banner, Blackboard, Starfish, etc.
- Physical Requirements:
ability to remain in a stationary position for most of the time, occasionally move within an office to access documents, and constantly operate computer or other office equipment. - Lamar Institute of Technology is an E‑Verify employer.
