Position: 26-27 Classroom Teacher

Teacher/Elementary DAEP

Provide at risk students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels. Work in self-contained team, departmental, interschool, or itinerant capacity as assigned. Develop modify, implement plans designed to improve behavior collaborate seamlessly/effectively with home campuses.

Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments

Knowledge of response to intervention (RTI) model and strategies.

Knowledge of 504 processes.

Knowledge of instructional strategies appropriate for students with disabilities

Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation

General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Knowledge in effective classroom and behavior management

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Knowledge of instructional appropriate for at risk student in an alternative placement environment.

Knowledge of best practice classroom and behavioral management technique appropriate for an at risk environment.

Approved completion of clinical teaching or internship

Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop IEP through ARD Committee process for each student assigned.

To develop/implement behavioral plans through a committee process.

Provide TEKS based instruction to meet individual student goals and objectives.

Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.

Provide accommodations to meet the instructional needs of students.

Participate in Committee meetings as the teacher representative on a regular basis.

Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress. (Behavioral and instructional)

Provide a variety of instructional strategies and techniques and technology to meet the instructional needs of students.

Plan and supervise assignments for assigned paraprofessionals.

Incorporate the use of technology to support instruction.

Provide or supervise personal care of students as stated in an IEP or other behavioral plan.

Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

Implement effective classroom management utilizing positive behavior support and other best practice informed methods.

Provide effective behavior/discipline strategies as written in the student's Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).

Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.

Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.

Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Establish/maintain collaborative relationships with sending campuses.

Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

Keep informed of and comply with special education, federal, state, district regulations and policies.

Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

Attend and participate in faculty and department meetings.

Perform any other duties assigned.

Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).

Maintain emotional control under stress

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment

May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, and assist non ambulatory students

Exposed to biological hazards
