HSES Technician / Safety Coordinator
The HSES Technician / Safety Coordinator is an entry level position that supports the implementation and administration of health, safety, environmental, and security programs to promote a safe and compliant work environment. This entry-level position assists with safety inspections, employee training, incident reporting, and regulatory compliance activities. The role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to begin a career in occupational health and safety within an industrial, construction, or manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of company HSES policies, procedures, and programs.
- Support HSES personnel in promoting a positive safety culture throughout the facility or project site.
- Conduct routine workplace inspections and report unsafe conditions, behaviors, or environmental concerns.
- Participate in safety observations and provide feedback to employees on safe work practices.
- Assist with incident investigations, documentation, and corrective action follow-up.
- Support the delivery of safety orientations for new hires, contractors, and visitors.
- Assist in coordinating and tracking employee safety training records.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks, job safety analyses (JSAs), and pre-task planning activities.
- Monitor work areas to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable safety regulations.
- Assist with maintaining safety documentation, reports, permits, and compliance records.
- Support emergency response activities and drills as directed.
- Help coordinate substance abuse prevention and testing programs as required.
- Observe equipment and worksite conditions and report deficiencies to supervision.
- Maintain professional relationships with supervisors, employees, and contractors.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of facility or project operations.
- 0–2 years of safety, construction, manufacturing, industrial, or related experience.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Entry-level candidates with a strong interest in workplace safety are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety principles and hazard recognition.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to maintain confidential information and professional conduct.
- Willingness to work in both office and field environments.
- Ability to reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see and to perform repetitive motion.
- Sedentary work:
Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
