About Beaumont
Beaumont, Texas, with a population of more than 118,000, is located in the Gulf Coast region on the Neches River, about 85 miles east of Houston. Beaumont has a long history with the oil industry and, together with nearby Port Arthur and Orange, forms the Golden Triangle on the Texas Gulf Coast. The Beaumont complex includes a refinery, chemical plant, polyethylene plant and lubricant blending and packaging plant, and is part of Exxon Mobil’s building and expansion plans for the U.S. Gulf Coast.
The Beaumont refining facilities are part of an integrated petrochemical complex on 2,700 acres. The site emphasizes safety, reliability and environmental stewardship as it supports global operations.
Role you will play in our teamThe Process Analyzer Engineer is responsible for the design, optimization, and implementation of a wide variety of on-line process analyzers to be installed at petrochemical and refining sites. This role provides technical support and guidance to manufacturing site maintenance and business teams. It involves time in the field ensuring installed analyzers contribute to safe, environmentally sound, reliable, and profitable operations, and time in the office attending planning and business team meetings.
WhatYou Will Do
- On-line analysis of petrochemical and refining streams and their final products
- Provide day-to-day support to Process and Maintenance on analyzer equipment regarding malfunctions and deficiencies and recommend actions to enhance equipment reliability
- Develop and execute analyzer projects and strategies in support of capital projects that impact global energy supplies using safe and cost-effective methodologies
- Support maintenance and operations for the existing analyzer fleet
- Deploy new process analyzer and sensor technologies, as applicable
- Uphold corporation standards on analyzers and their safe use
Skills and Qualifications
- A minimum of 4 years of experience as a process analyzer engineer is required for this position or a combination of the following education and work experiences:
- A Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or Engineering
- M.S. in Chemistry or Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of process analyzer experience
- B.S. in Chemistry or Engineering with a minimum of 4 years of process analyzer experience
- Extensive knowledge and demonstrated ability to use and troubleshoot at least one of the following analytical techniques:
- Gas Chromatography
- Molecular spectroscopy (IR, UV/Vis, Raman, etc.)
- Mass Spectrometry
- Electrochemistry
- Knowledge of sample conditioning system design and troubleshooting, CEMS EPA requirements (e.g., 40
CFR Part 75) and troubleshooting, gas detection systems, and analyzer shelter safety design. - Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Candidates with strong, demonstrated mechanical aptitude are given priority
