Responsible for meeting with customers to determine electric needs and requirements. Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, and design engineering activities related to routine, non‑routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.
Job Duties / Responsibilities- Provide technical guidance to Engineer Associates and Assistants and local area line groups.
- Provide project management for all large projects including highway relocations, governmental projects, planned improvement and reliability projects.
- Review and recommend for approval electrical designs that meet customer needs, comply with company standards and enhance overall system performance and reliability.
- Participate in meetings with external customers, architects, developers, contractors and government entities to communicate standards and guidelines.
- Perform engineering calculations to aid in planning and corrective measure projects.
- Assist with storm restoration efforts both local and out of town.
As a provider of essential services, employees may be required to work additional hours, in alternate locations, or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies or other situations as deemed necessary by the company. Exempt employees may not be paid overtime for such duties.
Preferred QualificationsElectrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree.
Minimum EducationBachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Industrial) from a four‑year accredited institution.
Degrees in Engineering Technology (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Industrial) from a four‑year accredited institution with a Professional Engineer (PE) license may be considered.
Minimum Experience- Engineer I – 0 to 2 years experience in an engineering discipline.
- Engineer II – 2+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
- Engineer III – 4+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
- Engineer Sr – 6+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
Technical mastery of engineering principles, in‑depth knowledge of procedures, programs, and standards in the responsible area. Consistently drives value in sound engineering decisions and mentors other engineers and technical professionals. Demonstrates good leadership, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, excellent math and project management skills, and a strong grasp of Personal Computer operations and related software. Familiar with National Electrical Safety Codes and National Electrical Code.
Able to manage multiple activities and changing priorities, work well under pressure, and meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner. An understanding of delivering a high level of customer service, acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment, and the ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and enact change. Recognizes hazards in the workplace and mitigates them.
Requires adherence to all Entergy safety policies and procedures.
