TxDOT's Beaumont District is looking for a Transportation Engineer I, II, or III to help us in our District Maintenance Office.

SalaryTransportation Engineer I (B24): $65,104 - $106,634 annually
Transportation Engineer II (B25): $69,572 - $114,099 annually
Transportation Engineer III (B26): $76,530 - $129,430 annually
The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position offered based on the applicant's skill level, education, work experience, and all other appropriate factors and based on business needs.

- Acts as a consultant to staff engineers to coordinate construction operations.
- Analyzes schedule trends, determines risks and supports management in evaluating options for corrective actions for routine projects.
- Answers technical and policy questions related to bridge inspection and maintains bridge inspection data; analyzes data and provides summaries.
- Assesses and reports actual project process versus planned progress to determine trends and variances for routine projects.
- Assists in evaluating pavement products and pavement condition data.
- Assists in overseeing construction project traffic control plans; periodically reviews traffic control devices with Area Engineers.
- Assists in overseeing contracts, issuing work orders and monitoring construction schedules and contractor payments and job progress on construction projects.
- Assists in the development, preparation and letting of maintenance contracts for the district.
- Assists in utilization of available funds to improve and install traffic control devices.
- Assist with design, computer operations and plan preparation.
- Coordinates and/or monitors assigned projects/programs/plans.
- Designs moderately complex bridge projects and performs specialized design.
- Develops and/or reviews engineering related documents, correspondence, reports and remediation plans.
- Develops and/or reviews environmental documents and prepares remediation plans.
- Develops electronic repair training for maintenance of traffic management systems.
- Drives/travels to project/work locations to make on‑site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and to provide technical support.
- Ensures compliance with National Bridge Inspection Standards.
- Ensures facility‑related contracts comply with applicable federal and state law policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
- Interprets maintenance standards, rules, methods, procedures, practices and policies.
