Engineering Technician Intern

Essential Job Functions

Under the general supervision and guidance of the Department Director, this Engineering Technician Intern will perform a range of duties within multiple departments. This position is designed to combine academic study with realistic and increasingly responsible duties in a public sector environment.

Work indoors and outdoors environment; work hours will be established upon employment.

Knowledge of basic research techniques; general principals of Environmental or Civil Engineering; knowledge of water, wastewater, hydraulics, and GIS.

Skilled in communicating effectively orally and in writing with individuals who represent a diverse population; skilled in navigating through the internet; ability to work independently; must possess strong computer skills.

Constantly sees and hears; frequently carries and holds objects weighing up to 20 lbs., files, sorts, stands, types, walks; operates a PC, calculator and writes by hand, performs data entry, sits, twists body; infrequently lifts, pulls, pushes and drags object weighing up to 20 lbs., climbs, crawls, kneels, squats and stoops.

Applicant must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral program at an accredited college or university majoring in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver’s License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver’s license. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
