Position:
Transport Engineer Tech I/II – Bridge (2601378)
Beaumont District is looking for a motivated Engineering Technician to join our Bridge Section in Beaumont. The role involves working on a variety of projects across a twelve‑county area, learning and growing while contributing to the future of Texas transportation.

Transportation Engineer Tech I (A16): $40,918 – $61,130
Transportation Engineer Tech II (A18): $45,521 – $71,055

• Perform basic design work and calculations.
• Conduct field work and use automated systems.
• Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect.
• Prepare field notes, quantity summaries, hydraulic and utility studies, and right‑of‑way maps.
• Review plans for format, drafting and calculation errors, and correlation with specifications.
• Prepare roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, and building plans.
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.

• Education
  :
  High School Graduate or equivalent in general high school studies.
• Experience
  :
  • Transportation Engineer Tech I:
    No experience required.
  • Transportation Engineer Tech II: 2 years of experience in drafting, design, and plan preparation (full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalent). Related college education or technical training may be substituted on a year‑per‑year basis.
• Licenses and Certifications
  :
  Valid driver’s license (position requires driving a state vehicle).

• Subject to outside environmental conditions; no weather protection.
• Exposure to noise and hazards such as moving vehicles, mechanical parts, high places, heat, or chemicals.
• Must wear protective gear (respirator, hard hat, or other devices).
• Fingering, typing, and repetitive motion required.
• Visual acuity for operating motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
• Pre‑employment physical exam required.
• Must pass a drug test; position subject to random drug testing.
