- Transportation Engineer Tech I (A16): $40,918- $61,130
- Transportation Engineer Tech II (A18): $45,521- $71,055

Position
Description:
Performs basic design work and calculations. Performs field work; uses automated systems. Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Essential Duties:
- Transportation Engineer Tech I:
Performs basic design work. Prepares field notes. Prepares quantity summaries, hydraulic and utility studies and right-of-way maps. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. - Transportation Engineer Tech II:
In addition to the duties listed above. Performs intermediate design work. Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications. Prepares roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, and building plans.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Experience:
Transportation Engineer Tech I:
No experience required. Transportation Engineer Tech II: 2 years of experience in drafting, design, plan preparation. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related College education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Licenses and
Certifications:
Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

- Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems
- Follow verbal and written instructions
- Performing basic design and drafting
- Intermediate design and hand and computer-aided drafting procedures
- Higher mathematics
- Training in a classroom, office, or field environment

Working Conditions:
- Subject to outside environmental conditions; no effective weather protection
- Subject to noise
- Subject to hazards-moving vehicles/mechanical parts, high places/heat, or chemicals
