Transportation Engineer II (B25): $69,572 - $114,099/yearly Transportation Engineer III (B26): $76,530 - $129,430/yearly Transportation Engineer IV (B27): $84,182 - $142,374/yearly The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position offered based on the applicant's skill level, education, work experience, and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.

Position Description Performs complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Essential Duties:
Transportation Engineer II:
Acts in an advisory capacity on administrative, technical, regulatory and engineering aspects of transportation Assists in developing and/or monitoring budgets. Develops, recommends, and implements modifications as necessary for continual improvement to existing program of responsibility. Develops design and project development reports, surveys and correspondence. Performs complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.

Performs complex planning work such as plan review, calculations and assisting in transportation planning studies. Represents the district/division at technical meetings and public hearings at local, state, federal and/or international levels. Assists Project Managers related to resource assignments, schedules, scope, communication, quality, and/or procurement, while utilizing available resources and maintaining the agency's project objectives. Coordinates with utility companies, attorneys and governmental representatives to accurately depict the highway project's impact on adjacent properties.

Schedules, coordinates and prepares documents for public hearings. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Transportation Engineer III:
The essential duties for this job include those listed above and the following:
Analyzes and reports on complex program funding change scenarios and their impact to individual project schedules. Analyzes schedule trends, determines risks and recommends options to management for corrective action for complex projects. Assists Project Managers to establish realistic and achievable schedule baselines for complex projects. Develops plans for the Project Managers related to resource assignments, schedules, scope, communication, quality, and procurement, while utilizing available resources and maintaining the agency's project objectives.

Performs advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts. Performs advanced and complex planning work such as plan review, calculations and transportation planning studies. Performs data collection, evaluations, analyses, studies, inspections, forecasts, assessments, and/or plan development. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Transportation Engineer IV:
The essential duties for this job include those listed above and the following:
