This position is responsible for assisting with the financial administration of externally funded federal, state, private, and local contracts and grants, as well as internally funded research enhancement grants. The role supports post‑award grant management by performing financial reconciliations, preparing and reviewing accounting entries, managing monthly grant billing and receivables, and ensuring compliance with applicable funding guidelines and university policies. The position also provides guidance to grant recipients on budgeting and allowable expenditures and supports audits and financial reporting related to sponsored projects.
GrantFinancial Administration and Compliance
- Support post‑award management of sponsored projects by reviewing grant documentation, ensuring compliance with funding agency and institutional guidelines, and assisting with time and effort reporting.
- Perform general ledger and trial balance reconciliations, including cash balance determination, journal entry preparation, cost accounting, and reconciliation between systems of record and secondary systems.
- Manage monthly grant billing, accounts receivable, cash application, and resolution of billing discrepancies to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and maintain post‑award grant budgets, calculate indirect costs, review encumbrances, and provide guidance to grant recipients regarding allowable expenditures.
- Support audits by tracing transactions and providing documentation, managing accounts payable related to grants, and recording fixed asset additions, dispositions, and transfers.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field, or four (4) years of progressively responsible accounting or business office experience.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in accounting or business office experience.
- One or more years of experience working with financial systems and spreadsheets.

This position requires the ability to work in a standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. The employee may be required to lift or move office materials weighing up to 10–15 pounds and must have sufficient visual acuity to review financial reports.
Job ConditionsThis position is primarily office‑based and operates within a standard professional work environment. Work is performed during normal business hours, with occasional flexibility to meet deadlines, reporting cycles, or audit requirements.
Pay RangeCommensurate.
