Summary/Objective

The Safety Officer develops, assists, implements and maintains the Safety Program for the hospital as well as coordinating Emergency Management activities through local and regional organizations to include HRSA funded activities.

  • Conducts Physical Environment Assessments Inspections of the hospital and its surrounding facilities for potential and actual safety hazards, as well as monitoring reported variances, and taking corrective action as warranted.
  • Conducts safety drills as advised by SETRAC or accreditation compliance. This includes activities such as Fire drills, Code Pink, Code White, Emergency Preparedness, and Departmental Training, as well as maintaining records of all safety-related activities.
  • Manages the the functionality and compliance of access controls and egress throughout the campus.
  • Chairs the Safety Committee maintaining records of meetings held and works with the committee in the implementation and assessment of hospital safety programs as well as the assessment and updating of policy and procedures related to safety.
  • Develops, assists, implements and assess the Hazardous Management Program ensuring compliance with all regulatory controls and standards.
  • Coordinates with Contractors specific to environmental compliance and risk mitigation. This includes issuing safety-related permits, safety assessments, education and risk mitigation strategies.
Required

Education and Experience

Associates Degree

1-3 years of related experience.

Required License/Certifications

Texas Private Security Bureau License; SAMA within 90 days of hire
