Position: PMHNP: Mental Health Clinician | Flexible Schedule

The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive mental health care to patients across various settings. This position involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with mental health disorders, while also collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care. The PMHNP will utilize their expertise in psychiatric nursing to develop treatment plans and provide education to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ mental health status and history.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
Prescribe medications and monitor their effectiveness and side effects.
Provide psychotherapy and counseling to individuals, families, and groups.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate care for patients with complex needs.
Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with regulations.
Participate in discharge planning for patients transitioning from acute care settings.
Engage in utilization review processes to ensure appropriate care delivery.
Skills
Ideal candidates should possess a strong foundation in psychiatric nursing along with the following skills:

Proficiency in medical terminology relevant to psychiatric care.
Experience in memory care for individuals with cognitive impairments.
Familiarity with neonatal ventilator management for pediatric populations.
Knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles.
Background in emergency medicine practices.
Ability to work effectively with people with developmental disabilities.
Experience in assisted living environments, providing mental health support.
Competence in discharge planning, ensuring smooth transitions for patients.
Understanding of the unique challenges faced by people with disabilities.
