Summary/Objective
The Outpatient Variable Pharmacist is responsible for providing safe, effective, patient-centered pharmacy services across all outpatient pharmacy operations, including but not limited to:
Baptist Cancer Network, Baptist Cancer Center-Port Arthur, Specialty Pharmacy, and Orange Infusion Pharmacy

Accurately reviews, interprets, and verifies prescriptions and medication orders for appropriateness, including indication, dose, route, frequency, interactions, allergies, contraindications, and therapeutic duplication.Oversees the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications by pharmacy technicians in accordance with established policies and applicable laws and regulations.Supports the medication needs of patients receiving infusion therapy by reviewing treatment plans, assessing medication regimens, identifying potential drug-related problems, and collaborating with oncology and infusion care teams. Ensures appropriate handling, preparation, and dispensing of medications associated with specialized outpatient therapies.Coordinates comprehensive pharmacy services for patients receiving specialty medications, including medication access, prior authorization support, adherence monitoring, medication counseling, adverse-effect assessment, and ongoing therapy management. Collaborate with providers, payers, patients, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate timely access to therapy and optimize outcomes.Maintains knowledge of all processes, systems, and technology used throughout all sites.Develops own knowledge by participating in education programs; training pharmacy staff, students, interns, and others as assigned.Required
Education and Experience Graduate of accredited college of pharmacy
1-3 years related experience
Required License/Certifications
Licensed in the state of Texas and IV Certification within 3 months of hire (ie: Sterile Product Preparation Certificate, Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique)
