Investigates and resolves liability, workers' compensation or public-damage-recovery (subrogation) claims with exposure typically under $1,500 (fast-track claims) while supporting specialists on more complex claims. Responsibilities include setting up claim files, performing data entry, processing payments to vendors and claimants, attaching documents electronically, and providing administrative support.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Investigates and either denies or negotiates/settles smaller liability, workers' compensation or public-damage-recovery (subrogation) claims (generally 'Fast track' claims) in accordance with best practices and company guidelines.
- Creates claim files in database for self and specialists, performs data-entry, processes claim payments to vendors and claimants, properly credits money received through Accounts Receivable process.
- Documents investigation results and all activity in appropriate claims management database. Scans and attaches documents to claims electronically for self and specialists within the team (Liability, Workers' Compensation or Public-Damage-Recovery).
- Interacts with vendors regularly (e.g.: those that repair vehicle rut damage, review medical bills for adherence to State workers' comp fee schedules). Interacts with internal field employees during claim investigations.
- Handles specific assignments and projects, such as maintaining DOT Vehicle Accident Log, tracking statistics/results on excel spreadsheets, coordinating department 'recycling' program, mailing safety information to customers, distributing claims instructional & contact packets of information to internal customers, serving on building safety teams and as fire warden, presenting monthly status reports to management, etc.
- Participates in safety training/reporting programs, on process improvement teams, on storm response teams and in acts of volunteerism.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Associate Analyst - Claims: 3 years of property & casualty claims experience, litigation paralegal/secretarial work or equivalent experience.
Associate Analyst, Sr: 7 years of property & casualty claims experience, litigation paralegal/secretarial work or equivalent experience.
Ability to investigate, evaluate, resolve, document and report on high volume of small liability, workers' compensation and/or public-damage-recovery (subrogation) claims; understand elements of legal liability; communicate with all levels; prioritize work; operate Word/Excel/web-based applications; bring issues to appropriate reporting structures; answer required behavior-based questions positively.
