Summary
Conduct NDT inspections of structures, pipelines or other components and materials using x‑ray, ultrasound, or related equipment.
Essential Functions- Conduct non‑destructive testing of components and materials in accordance with applicable codes, standards, equipment utilization, specifications, and procedures.
- Utilize appropriate NDT methods to perform inspections, including phased array, shear wave, gamma radiography, x‑ray radiography, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, leak testing, and visual inspections.
- Select, prepare, load, calibrate, or operate equipment used in the non‑destructive testing of products or materials.
- Identify defects in materials using appropriate testing techniques.
- Complete documentation and work orders thoroughly following established protocols and meeting required time frames.
- Drive company vehicles and maintain a safe driving record.
- Provide instruction to assigned assistants and ensure the safety of the entire team.
- Knowledge of, and willingness to follow and lead others to follow applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Strong work ethic; able to work long periods of time, up to 16‑hour days.
- Ability to respond to call‑outs on short notice and remain on site, including long‑distance travel for extended periods of time.
- Physical stamina to frequently lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds and occasionally exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Capability to climb and work at heights, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, stand for long periods, walk, push, pull, repeat motion, work in confined spaces, extreme cold and heat, and environments with hazards such as moving mechanical parts, electrical components, and chemical exposures.
- Professional customer service, punctuality, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective teamwork and leadership abilities.
- Expertise in multiple NDT methods and willingness to engage in ongoing learning.
- Intermediate mechanical knowledge.
High School Diploma or GED.
Certification and Licensure- Valid driver’s license.
- Insurance eligibility through PROtect, LLC insurance carrier.
- Minimum of 80 hours from a recognized PAUT training course.
- 320 documented OJT hours in PAUT.
Demonstrated NDT skill, knowledge, or experience with requirement for Shear Wave and Phased Array experience; PLI experience considered a plus.
