Summary/ObjectiveThe Special Procedures RN oversees Imaging staff, ensuring efficient and effective patient care is provided to a wide variety of patients with diverse needs and whose information may be limited. Responsible for assessment, planning and care of patients undergoing diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic procedures.

- Utilizes a systematic approach to provide individualized, goal-directed, nursing care by performing comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, making nursing diagnoses that serve as the basis for the strategy of care.
- Communicates information appropriately with Medical Staff and other members of the health care team to promote continuity of care and attainment of patient expected outcomes.
- Consistently provides outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests as appropriate to position. Displays initiative to see processes through to completion and offers assistance without being asked.
- Possess basic knowledge of sterile techniques as it relates to the provision of CT assisted biopsies, fluoro guided procedures and other interventions within the scope of an RN
- Places PICC lines, midlines, peripheral IVs with or without ultrasound guidance; for those patient who meet criteria. Obtains and maintains the education and competency as appropriate for the insertion and care of these lines.
- Participates in the clinical oversight of student trainees.
Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
1 - 3 years related experience
Required License/CertificationsCurrent RN license in the state of Texas, BLS certification, ACLS certification, Competency in moderate sedation
