The Cardiovascular Nurse is responsible for the provision of safe and effective care of patients having invasive or non-invasive special procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab, covering the immediate pre-procedure period, during the procedure, and immediately following the procedure.
EssentialJob Duties
- Utilizes a systematic approach to provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care by performing comprehensive nursing assessments, making diagnoses, developing a plan of care, implementing care, and evaluating responses.
- Facilitates departmental operations through completion of all patient logs, charge requisitions, and other paperwork; organizes activities during the immediate pre-procedure period to ensure assessments are completed and documented fully; maintains required documentation in accordance with standards.
- Assumes responsibility for the efficient management of patient in the immediate post procedure period.
- Assists physicians in the administration of Cardiac Cath Lab examinations within scope of practice of the RN.
- Communicates information appropriately with Medical Staff and other members of the health care team to promote continuity of care and attainment of patient expected outcomes.
- Ensures implementation of operational standards which promote the maintenance of patient rights including informed consent, clarification of patient expectations, explanation of treatment processes, maintenance of confidentiality and privacy, and handling of patient complaints; participates in a rotational call system as needed to provide continuous availability of patient services.

RequiredEducation and Experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- 2-4 years of related experience
- Current RN license in the state of Texas
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- EKG certification
- Competency for moderate sedation
