Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) – Report to the Plasma Center Manager, support operations, and assist with donor eligibility, management of donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and donor notification.
About the roleProvide clinical support in a plasma collection environment. Manage donor consent, education, medical history, and physical examinations. Process blood testing and review serological results. Handle donor reactions and emergencies following SOPs, coordinate with the Center Physician and Medical Affairs, and document outcomes. Support EHS activities, vaccination programs, occupational health incidents, and pandemic coordination when required.
How you will contribute- You will determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis results.
- You will evaluate donor reactions as outlined in the SOPs, managing medical emergencies, standing orders, and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical or technical guidance, and donor safety and eligibility concerns.
- You will support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- You will manage employee incidents, determining further evaluation by occupational health/ER, and follow EHS guidance.
- You may act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support related investigations.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a recognized nursing program credential meeting state requirements.
- Current LPN or LVN license in the state of assignment.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Basic IV therapy certification in the state of licensure.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- At least two years of clinical or hospital experience.
Location:
USA – TX – Beaumont
U.S. hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. Wage reflects state or local minimum wage requirements.
