Role Overview
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager), and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The role supports plasma center operations, ensuring donor eligibility, safety, and compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, including informed consent, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Manage donor adverse events and review laboratory test results.
- Notify donors of unsuitable test results.
- Evaluate donor reactions at the facility and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of standing orders and donor transport to emergency care.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical or technical issues.
- Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and assess the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER, referring to EHS guidance as appropriate.
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats within the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate-equivalent nursing program meeting state requirements.
- Current license or certification in the state of assignment:
Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA). - Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in the state of licensure.
- Successfully complete the FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Hourly wage range: $33.44 – $45.98 (actual wage may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location).
