Summary/Objective
The Clinical Nurse Educator functions as a clinical nurse expert and care coordinator for the adult medical/surgical patient population interacting with clinical nursing staff, patients/families, medical staff and administration with a focus on promoting the health of adults through theory and evidence-based interventions by using relevant nursing research to improve clinical practice and investigate nurse care challenges, as well as participate in development and conduct research activities related to area of specialty.

Job Duties

* Assess patient population to determine patient care needs that require Clinical specialist Nursing interventions through rounds and communication with health team members.
* Collaborates with nursing staff and other health care professionals on the development and review of standards.
* Provide leadership for direct patient care programs and/or initiatives in area of specialization collaborating with Nurse Directors.
* Acts as a clinical resource for personnel using evidence based standards and professional guidelines.
* Assess, design, implement and evaluate education programs based on assessment of the learning needs of staff.
* Facilitate the education experience for nursing students, support the implementation and evaluation of staff education and orientation programs and assist in monitoring the care delivered.
Required
Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
3-5 years related experience
Required License/Certifications
Current RN License in the state of Texas
BLS Certification
