Overview
Texas Oncology–Beaumont in Beaumont, Texas is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) to provide bedside nursing care for our oncology clinic. The position may be Level I, Level II, or Senior based on the candidate’s experience.
Responsibilities- Provide general nursing care to patients, including vitals, assessments, and procedures.
- Assist with the Canopy dashboard and work queues, responding promptly to calls and educating patients about medications and treatment instructions.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards and physician directives.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Observe, record, and report patients’ conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Screen patients for appropriate information and instruct them in specimen collection for testing.
- Respond to and refer incoming telephone calls; instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Perform EKG and oxymetry readings as required by the physician.
- Obtain blood specimens from peripheral sites in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions.
- Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
- Maintain patient files, records, and other information.
- Initiate IV fluids and IV therapeutic medications in accordance with the LPN/LVN State Nurse Practice Act.
- Maintain efficient patient flow and support the physician schedule, performing miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
- Adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program.
- 0–3 years of experience as a practical nurse.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Current LPN state license and registration with the state board.
- Current BLS certification within three months of hire.
- At least three (3) years of experience as a practical nurse.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience as a practical nurse in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Current BLS certification required.

Physical DemandsFull range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients. Manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing, and walking for extensive periods. Occasionally lift and carry items up to 40 lb. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range are required.
Work EnvironmentExposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
