Job Description
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and Center Physician. Responsibilities include donor eligibility determination, adverse event management, laboratory result review, and donor notification of unsuitable test results.
About the RoleEvery day, the role demands commitment to customer service and quality. The specialist follows plasma collection regulations and provides center‑level support of environmental, health, and safety (EHS).
How You Will Contribute- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and follow emergency SOPs, including development of Center Physician standing orders and nurse transport to emergency care.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance concerning donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or ER, referring to EHS guidance.
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
- High‑school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Current license or certification in the state of assignment: EMT‑Paramedic.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Compliance with state basic IV therapy requirements in the state of licensure.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for the Bio Life Medical Support Specialist role.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Salary & BenefitsHourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44. Benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage, 401(k) plan with company match, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, holidays, wellness benefits, up to 80 hours of sick time per calendar year, and up to 120 hours of paid vacation for new hires.
