Exceptional ER
The LVN is responsible for delivering quality, professional nursing care for the patient. They assist in maintaining the overall functions of the Emergency Room. The staffing of the ER is based on a concept of teamwork. Employees may be cross‑trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.
Responsibilities- Render professional‑quality patient care to all patients.
- Assessment of individual patient needs.
- Provide optimal patient care through appropriate planning and implementation.
- Demonstrate the ability to give comprehensive nursing care to meet individual patient needs.
- Adhere to the Standards of Nursing Practice, ER, local/state/federal standards.
- Acknowledge and seek continuing professional growth.
- Assure a safe environment for patients and personnel.
- Keep abreast of current developments in patient care and treatment.
- Participate in QI activities.
- Assure adequate equipment and supplies necessary for quality care delivery.
- Provide flexible staffing hours to meet the Facility's needs.
- Maintain materials, supplies, and equipment of specific services as assigned.
- Help check expirable dates, e.g., medication, chemicals, equipment, etc.
- Maintain and keep up‑to‑date with established departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and ER‑related business.
- Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors, and other Hospital employees.
- Document concisely, precisely, and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy.
- Participate in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and Hospital business.
- Understand and maintain clinical competencies (general, age‑specific and drug administration).
- Above mentioned is done 95% of the time.
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or vocational school.
- Licensed to practice in the state of Texas.
- Previous nursing care of the preoperative patient.
- Operation of vital signs monitors.
- Assessment skills.
- A basic understanding of nursing diagnosis.
- BLS required, ACLS/PALS preferred.
- Principles of Standard Precautions.
- IV therapy.
- Current LVN license required.
