Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - Corrections | Texas | Day & Night Shifts Available

Overview

Our client is seeking skilled and dependable Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) to provide high-quality patient care within a correctional healthcare environment
.

This role offers diverse clinical exposure, stable scheduling, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient health and safety. Candidates must complete UTMB clearance documents, which must be hand-signed
, and provide availability for a review call.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet ALL of the following:

Licensure & Certifications
  • Valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - State of Texas
  • Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)
Education & Experience
  • Graduation from an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse Program
  • 1+ year of Med/Surg or LTAC experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • IV Therapy Certification (required for LVNs in this role)
  • Up-to-date immunizations and health clearances:
    • COVID-19
    • Varicella
    • MMR
    • T-dap
    • TB
    • Hepatitis B
    • Current Physical
    • Flu vaccine
What You Need to Know
  • Day Shift: 4 openings (05:45-18:15)
  • Night Shift: 3 openings (17:45-06:15)
  • 4:3 rotating schedule
  • Clearance documents sent during the Review stage
  • Please provide candidate availability for the Review call in the submission description
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing services, treatments, and diagnostic/preventive procedures appropriate for inmate care
  • Interpret and follow physician orders
  • Administer prescribed medications
  • Assist physicians during sick call when present
  • Apply surgical dressings and bandages
  • Provide emergency first aid care
  • Check and record vital signs
  • Educate inmates on discharge planning
  • Observe and document symptoms when physician is not present
  • Report reactions to treatments and medications
  • Monitor changes in emotional or physical condition
  • Instruct and supervise correctional staff on inmate healthcare needs
  • Consult with supervisors on complex cases
  • Check and order medical supplies
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Provide health education to inmates
