Summary/Objective

The Behavioral Health RN Clinical Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership for a designated patient care area. This individual has the accountability and responsibility for clinical operations ensuring that efficient and effective nursing care is provided to individuals and families in the patient care area in which they are employed. As a member of the Nursing Leadership Team, the Nurse Clinical Manager makes decisions independently and in collaboration with the Administrative Director, Clinical Director of Behavioral Health and Chief Nursing Executive to promote the attainment of hospital goals in accordance with its mission and ANA Standards of Practice.

  • Requires use of documented best practices and teaches/mentors staff to routinely utilize evidence-based data. Maintains knowledge of current nursing practice and the roles and functions of their patient care team members.
  • Ensures staff accountability by managing staff performance through rewards, recognition, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action. Provides an environment where staff are actively engaged in hospital committees and professional development activities.
  • Has an understanding of the Texas Administrative Code (TAC), the court process, local resources, and The Health and Safety Code as it relates to mental health.
  • Ensures safe staffing ratios are maintained consistently on all units for all shifts.
  • Develops, maintains, and ensures compliance with P&P for supervised department(s).
  • Displays sound fiscal judgment and control of department as evidenced by achieving budget targets, including but not limited to, hour/stat and cost/stat.
Required

Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Required License/Certifications

Current RN License in the state of Texas.

BLS Certification, SAMA certification, Abuse and Neglect, and

Unit specific competencies obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer date.
