Essential Job Functions
Maintains proper sanitation according to department standards by cleaning animal cages, walls, windows and flooring. Sanitizes areas as required; shows adoptable animals for potential adoptions; observes animals and reports any signs of illness, distress or safety issues. Ensures all animals have adequate food and water by replenishing supplies. Ensures all adoptable animals are properly identified with tags, collars, and correct cage cards.
Keeps outside exercise areas and parking lot free of solid waste, toys bowls and trash; operates washers and dryers to clean laundry; exercises animals by taking them to exercise areas. Follows proper safety measures and procedures when using chemicals and cleaning supplies. Maintain and clean storage areas; provides humane treatment to all animals.

This position requires 100% onsite work. Works inside and outside; exposed to strong odors and the possibility of bruises, cuts and animal bites. Must be comfortable working with dogs and cats of all sizes and breeds. Must be available to work Monday thru Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., shifts will vary; must be able to work the weekends when needed.
KnowledgeKnowledge of the materials, practices, and methods used in cleaning operations; some knowledge of safety procedures used in working with animals; some knowledge of the methods and procedures used in caring for animals. Knowledge of computers and digital camera equipment.
Skills/AbilitiesAbility to work with and around often vicious, sick or injured animals; ability to use cleaning equipment safely and efficiently; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. Must be able to follow policies and standard operating procedures; must be able to follow directions and able to learn and use new skills.
Physical RequirementsConstantly sees and hears; frequently walks, climbs, crawls, bends, twists body, squats, stoops, lifts, carries, pulls, pushes and drags objects weighing up to 100 lbs. (including both live and dead animals), and operates equipment for cleaning indoors.
Education/ExperienceCompletion of 9th grade. Must be comfortable working with dogs and cats of all sizes and breeds.
This position requires 100% onsite work. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
