Job Summary

The Market Development Lead (MDL) is responsible for driving the growth and development of the market by collaborating with Independent Distributor Partners (IDPs) and retail outlets to deliver the business plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with IDPs, retailer management, and cross‑functional teams.
  • Engage with IDPs through regular meetings, dispute resolution, and business planning to maximize route health and sales.
  • Recommend resources and technology to support IDP operations.
  • Coordinate route consults and enable IDPs to adapt to retail and consumer changes.
  • Drive the retail development agenda, prioritizing sales plans, promotion execution, and inventory management.
  • Analyze market conditions and build business plans with shelf‑access and sales opportunities.
  • Maintain fast response to retailer concerns, ensuring timely resolution of planogram and SKU issues.
  • Recruit new IDPs and support route splits within the zone market.
  • Collect and analyze sales data, providing insights and recommendations to decision‑makers.
  • Participate in coaching, training, and technology roll‑outs to support IDPs.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Zone Sales Manager, Business Development Manager, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma (HS).
    Must have
  • 3–5 years of sales experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and persuade independent partners and internal teams.
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Demonstrated leadership and customer‑orientation.
  • Nice to have: Bachelor’s degree, minimum 2 years of relevant sales experience.
Working Conditions

Travel is required within the sales zone and to regional offices. Overnight stays may be necessary. Flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, are expected. Ability to relocate as needed.

Physical Demands

Work requires standing, walking, sitting, and occasionally climbing or kneeling. Ability to lift and move items up to 35 pounds routinely and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Frequent driving to stores, warehouses, and hubs.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $67,000 – $96,400, plus potential incentives and benefits. Benefits start day one and include medical, dental, vision, short‑ and long‑term disability, accident & disease (AD&D) and life insurance. Employees can enroll immediately in the company matching 401(k) plan with 100% vesting. Other benefits include unlimited sick time, paid time off, and holiday pay. When located in WHQ, additional perks such as free access to the fitness center, on‑site daycare (Bright Horizons) and a company store are available.
