JOB TITLE: Armed Security Officer

WAGE / HOUR STATUS:Hourly/Exempt/Full Time

MONTHS/DAYS:12 months/ 234 days

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Supervise andensure the safety, security, and welfare of all students, faculty, staff, and visitors at Bob Hope School. Aide to emergency preparedness of District campuses, facilities, students, staff , volunteers, and visitors.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid drivers license and Firearm Owner's Identification Card.
  • Successfully pass a fingerprint criminal background investigation, physical fitness examination, drug/alcohol screening and mental health evaluation.
  • One to three years of security or police officer work.
  • Coursework, training or prior licensure in law enforcement, public safety, security, or related discipline
  • Must be able to pass a background check for a firearm purchase.
  • Credentialed or certified in emergency management (AEM, CEM, TEM or similar) (preferred)
  • Ability to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively & ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Keen independent judgment.
  • Knowledge of school safety, security and/or law enforcement procedures, practices and related standards, codes, and laws
  • Knowledge of emergency management/emergency preparedness methodology and concepts (preferred)
  • Skilled in use of relevant, security-related technology (e.g., security video systems, mass notification systems, visitor management systems, access control, etc.) (preferred)
  • Exceptional writing skills, particularly in the context of business communications, drafting policies, procedures, operational plans, training materials, fact-gathering, investigations and after-actionreports
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and customer service/public relations skills.
  • Skilled in the use of office/business technology (e.g., MS Office Suite, G-Suite, etc.)
  • Skilled in supervisory functions, methods, staffing and evaluation (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Responsible for acquiring ae rial photographs of each campus and doors numbered in case of an emergency.
  • Maintain order, prevent crime, and assist the building Administration with the operations of the school on school property or at school-sponsored events when necessary and appropriate.
  • Enforcement of Texas Criminal Code, Traffic Code, Education Code, Health and Safety Code, Family Code, and applicable City o f Port Arthur Ordinances on the property of the District .
  • Provide proactive patrol of the campus for violations of laws and suspicious persons and activity.
  • Provide emergency response to crimes or emergencies in progress.
  • Provide Investigation and Documentation of crimes occurring on the campus es .
  • Respond to and investigate intrusion and fire alarms.
  • Respond to non-emergency calls for service relating to the District .
  • Assist other law enforcement agencies that may be involved with district students or personnel.
  • Provide or Coordinate Emergency Mental Health Officer response to the campus.
  • Provide Investigation and Documentation of allegations of District Employee misconduct.
  • Provide Investigation and Documentation of violations of student code of conduct involving threats to safety.
  • Provide Investigation and Documentation of allegations of sexual harassment reported to campus administrators.
  • Investigate and Document rported serious illnesses and injuries occurring on District property or relating to the District .
  • Investigate fires on campus and serve as a liaison with the Port Arthur Fire Department Arson Investigators.
