General job description:
The electrician position plans layout, installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures and control equipment. Non-exempt role; reports to the foreman; assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently.
Must be able to operate industrial trucks or tractors equipped to move materials around a warehouse, storage yard, factory, construction site, or similar location. Non-exempt role; reports to site manager, site superintendent, or foreman; assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently.
Functional requirements:
Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provides access for future maintenance and avoids unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, prepares sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring, measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, pulls wiring through conduit, splices wires, connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels, connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads, tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, observes functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement, may repair faulty equipment or systems, perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
The dirt operator - will inspect product load for accuracy, and safely move it around the warehouse or facility to ensure timely and complete delivery, move controls to drive gasoline- or electric-powered trucks, cars, or tractors and transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas, move levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack
Material, position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas, manually or mechanically load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles, perform routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tank, signal workers to discharge, dump, or level materials, perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Qualification standards:
* high school or equivalent
* one(1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
* knowledge of electrician's tools and how to use them
* working on or above 600v or 69kv industrial high voltage distribution systems requires qualification
* most jobsites require nccer certification for a-class electricians
* written pre-employment qualification test
* post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
* jobsite safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
* safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
* applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
* minimum (2) years of experience for dirt operating
Physical involvement:
Maybe required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. Above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.;
standing / sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other ppe; stepstool use; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environment
Mental involvement:
