The Technician is a heavy equipment mechanic specializing in maintaining and repairing cranes. The role includes routine maintenance such as lubricating parts, troubleshooting malfunctions, and performing repairs. HCSG operates a 24/7 service model, requiring technicians to be available on-call for after‑hour or weekend service as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities- Available on-call to provide after‑hour services as required.
- Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and upgrade industrial hoists and cranes at customer locations.
- Perform OSHA‑required hoist and crane inspections, generate inspection reports and repair orders.
- Communicate with the Service Manager and Branch Manager to schedule and complete daily work.
- Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and responsibly; report deficiencies to the supervisor.
- Collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Attend company‑provided training and seminars as required.
- Participate in the HCSG 5 Marks program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The position is labor intensive and requires lifting of up to 50 lbs daily and up to 100 lbs on occasion. It involves frequent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, overhead reaching, bending, squatting, prolonged standing, and sitting. Occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling are necessary. Hand and eye coordination is essential. Workers routinely work at heights exceeding 50 feet. The role may require travel up to 20% and various shifts, including on‑call, overtime, and potential out‑of‑town travel.
WorkEnvironment
Work is conducted inside or outside depending on customer requirements and may involve extreme hot and cold temperatures. Summer temperatures can exceed 120°F. The environment commonly includes noise, heights, fumes, dust, and odors.
Minimum Education RequiredHigh School Diploma or GED.
Minimum Qualifications- 0–2 years of crane experience in an industrial facility.
- Pass pre‑employment drug test and background check (DISA); subject to random and annual drug testing.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Commitment to safe work and driving practices.
- Willingness to work at various heights.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Vocational or Technical training certificate.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with hand tools or possession of personal hand tools.
