PAUT Technician

Summary

Conduct NDT inspections of structures, pipelines or other components and materials using x-ray, ultrasound, or related equipment.

• Conduct non‑destructive testing of components and materials in accordance with applicable codes, standards, equipment utilization, specifications, and procedures.
• Utilize appropriate NDT methods to perform inspections, including phased array, shear wave, gamma radiography, x‑ray radiography, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, leak testing, and visual inspections.
• Select, prepare, load, calibrate, and operate equipment used in NDT of products or materials.
• Identify defects in materials using appropriate testing techniques.
• Complete documentation and work orders thoroughly following established protocols and meeting required time frames.
• Drive company vehicles and maintain a safe driving record.
• Provide instruction to assigned assistants and ensure safety of the entire team.

• Safety: Knowledge of and willingness to follow applicable safety regulations, policies and procedures; apply safety standards in the work environment and look out for other crew members.
• Work Schedule: Ability to work long periods of time, up to 16‑hour days, respond to call‑outs on short notice, and stay on site, including long‑distance travel for extended periods.
• Physical Demands: Able to frequently lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds on rough terrain and occasionally exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 150 pounds with assistance; climbing, working at heights, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, standing for long periods, walking, pushing, pulling, repetitive motion, confined spaces, extreme cold and heat, visual acuity, working near hazards, moving mechanical parts, electrical components, and chemical exposures.
• Customer Service: Interact professionally with customers and punctually arrive at assignments.
• Teamwork: Work effectively as part of a team and provide instruction to others effectively and professionally.
• NDT Methods: Expertise in multiple NDT methods and willingness to engage in ongoing learning and application of skills.
• Mechanical: Intermediate mechanical knowledge.

High School Diploma or GED.

• Valid driver’s license.
• Insurability through PROtect, LLC insurance carrier.
• Minimum of 80 hours from a recognized PAUT training course.
• 320 documented OJT hours in PAUT.

Demonstrated NDT skill, knowledge, or experience. Requires Shear Wave and Phased Array experience. PLI experience a plus.
