Job Title: Automotive Technician Apprentice II - Automotive Tech Sr.

Position can be filled as an Automotive Technician Apprentice II, Automotive Tech, or Automotive Technician Sr. depending on candidate experience.
Responsibilities- Perform all tasks and meet experience, special qualifications, and physical qualifications for the respective level on all Entergy owned, leased, and rented equipment.
- Lead or assist in more complex repairs and maintenance of all equipment.
- Travel safely to job sites in Entergy vehicles and work with customers to complete tasks with minimal interruption to line activity.
- Assist with development of less skilled employees and perform tasks with Class 3 supervision, as applicable.
- Provide off‑system storm response support as requested.
- Must be able to use diagnostic tools and schematics to identify and correct issues with electrical systems, engines, transmissions, and aerial systems; general ability to read codes and perform functional tests.
- Basic automotive electrical knowledge and ability to use DVOM for voltage, resistance, and continuity testing.
- Ability to perform routine repairs to internal combustion engines, exhaust systems, and emission control systems (e.g., turbo, fuel injectors, EGR).
- Perform chassis‑related repairs to steering and suspension systems.
- Search electronic sources for equipment identification, repair procedures, fluid capacities, and torque specs.
- Accurate use of task‑specific mechanical tools (torque wrench, dial indicator, dial caliper).
- Diagnose and repair automotive HVAC systems.
- Basic cutting, welding, and fabrication skills.
- Advanced knowledge for higher levels: expert use of diagnostic tools, deep experience in internal combustion engines, emission controls, hydraulic systems, and advanced welding certifications.
- Must meet all qualifications, experience, and special qualifications for the specific level (Apprentice I, Apprentice II, Tech, or Sr.).
- At least two years of related work experience or equivalent, with automotive or related certification from an accredited institution.
- Complete manufacturer computer‑based training and industry certifications (IFPS, ASE, MACS, HVAC, welding) within specified time frames (0–12 months, 6 months for new hires at Apprenticeship level).
- Must hold or obtain IFPS certification; must attain automotive HVAC certification within 12 months.
- Must complete manufacturer bucket, digger, and PDM training as available.
- Willing and able to perform essential functions of the position, including equipment weight qualifications and aerial bucket restrictions.
- Meet all personal qualification requirements for each level.
- Capable of assuming supervisory responsibilities where applicable.
