Ryder System is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our mobile service team supporting transportation and warehousing customers. In this field-based role, you will perform on-site and roadside diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance on diesel-powered fleet vehicles. You'll troubleshoot engines, brakes, electrical, and hydraulic systems using advanced diagnostic tools while documenting work in Ryder systems. Operating in a safety-first, customer-focused culture, you'll collaborate with dispatch and fleet managers to minimize downtime, uphold DOT and OSHA standards, and support Ryder's commitment to reliable, end-to-end logistics and transportation solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mobile diagnostics, repair, and maintenance on diesel trucks and fleet vehicles at customer locations and on the road
  • Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and DOT-compliant safety checks
  • Troubleshoot engine, brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems using diagnostic tools and service manuals
  • Document all work performed, parts used, and labor hours in Ryder systems accurately and on time
  • Respond to emergency roadside service calls and support breakdown recovery safely and efficiently
  • Collaborate with dispatch, fleet managers, and customers to prioritize work and minimize downtime
  • Adhere to Ryder and OSHA safety standards, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations
  • Maintain service truck, tools, and equipment in safe, reliable working condition
  • Support continuous improvement, quality standards, and customer satisfaction goals
  • Provide basic guidance to drivers on equipment use and report recurring issues to supervisors
