Position: Over The Road (OTR) Truck Drivers

Richard Construction Inc. (RCI) is currently seeking experienced Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Drivers for transporting materials over public roads. Materials may be transported from RCI Pipe Fabrication Shop to RCI Paint Shop and to RCI Projects or Jobs or to their associated laydown locations. Materials may be transported from RCI shops to and from other third party shops for intermediate work processes (cement lining of pipe, steel galvanize rs, etc.).

Position

Summary

OTR Truck Drivers will operate vehicles in compliance with all DOT requirements, including proper log management. OTR Truck Drivers shall transport materials by obeying all traffic laws. OTR Truck Drivers shall manage the transport(s) with defensive driving techniques to ensure safety of themselves, the DOT vehicle, and the freight being hauled. OTR Truck Drivers shall ensure maintenance needs of vehicles are addressed in a timely manner.

OTR Truck Drivers shall report incidents in a timely manner per RCI procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • Must have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) driver's license issued by a United State's Department of Transportation  compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements, as applicable
  • Must be pass a motor vehicle records (MVR) check
    • If the MVR check reveals infractions or violations, then RCI management shall be required prior to processing any approvals to hire
  • Must be able to pass a DOT Physical
  • Must have a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) Card
  • Must be able to regularly and reliably show up at the assigned job site
  • Must meet all safety and security requirements at the assigned job site
  • Position Responsibilities
    • Will operate DOT vehicles for transport of materials as described above
    • Will inspect equipment and document deficiencies or required maintenance schedule needs
    • Will be responsible for all safety aspects of operating the vehicle
    • Will follow Public Transportation and Traffic Laws
    Additional Qualifications
    • Must be able to provide verification of past employment to RCI Recruiters
    • Must have basic mechanical knowledge and illustrate the abilities to inspect vehicles, trailers, and load securing
    • Must know all proper hand signals for control of backing loads
    • Must be able to follow instructions correctly
    • Must be reliable, accountable and consistent in performing administrative processes such as but not limited to vehicle DOT log management and other paperwork
    • Must be willing and able to follow all instructed safety regulations
    • Must be able to make it to work on time and work the designates schedule, including any overtime as needed with the proper notification
    • Must be a team player and have effective communication skills in dealing with coworkers and any other related contacts
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Richard Construction Inc. (RCI) former employee from a Reduction of Force (ROF)
    • NCCER Qualifications in equipment operation or off-road vehicles
    • Formal/Technical education
    Candidate Possession of Required Tools

    Physical Requirements
    • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting
    • Will talk and hear in order to communicate effectively
    • Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform material tie-downs and releases
    • Able to use arms and hands to signal, grad, hold, turn, and push or pull objects such as materials, controls, and tools
    • Will be required to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs in weight
    • Will use vision abilities to focus, see short distances, see colors, possess depth perception and peripheral vision
    • Must be capable or working outdoors in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind
    • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, earplugs/muffs, safety vests, gloves, steel toe/safety toe boots, when required for deliveries at sites that require full PPE compliance for OTR truck drivers; includes being clean shaven, if site requirements enforce this for OTR drivers
