Assistant Director of Athletics and Activities

Wayland is an independent, coed college preparatory school for boarding and day students (grades 9-post‑graduate), founded in 1855. The school’s rich, rigorous academic program features exceptionally small classes, capstone projects at every grade, active STEAM, media studies, environmental science, and student success program, and an array of AP offerings. The diverse and welcoming school community brings together students from across the United States and more than 25 other countries in an intimate learning environment, with a student‑faculty ratio of 6:1.

Wayland’s historic campus is located in the heart of the Midwest in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin—just 40 miles from Madison and 60 miles from Milwaukee.

Essential Functions
  • Support the Director of Athletics in all facets of the program as needed and directed
  • Coach two athletic seasons
  • Serve as Acting Athletic Director when needed
  • Enter invoices for officials and entry fees into Expense Management
  • Assist with athletic scheduling as needed
  • Record attendance for early athletic dismissals in Blackbaud
  • Game management
Dean of Students
  • Live in a dorm and serve as dorm supervisor
  • Lead a Mentor group of 5-8 students per semester
  • Support the Dean of Students Office to manage Student Activities including planning, leading, and facilitating weekend activities, transportation, trips and functions, student volunteers, scheduling, assigning chaperones, campus competitions, pep rallies, and events
  • Serving as the club advisor for Student Activities Club, organize club fairs, help students plan and lead co‑curricular and extra‑curricular activities as part of weekends, clubs, and events
  • Working with the Dean of Students Office and the Advancement Office to plan major on‑campus student activities (Orientation, Homecoming Spirit Week, Homecoming Dance, Snowball Dance, Connection Weekends, Prom, etc.)
  • Supporting the Academic Office when able with Attendance initiatives

Wayland Academy expects the Assistant Director of Athletics to be fully engaged in the school's life and mission, in and out of the classroom. To that end, the Assistant Director is expected to take meals in the dining hall, participate in Wayland Academy community events and to, in general, be a positive role model for students.
