Job Opportunities

The City of Beaver Dam is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to serve as a Engineering Technician
. The Engineering Technician assists with designing, permitting, inspecting, and collecting data for municipal infrastructure projects. This role provides critical support to the Director of Facilities and Engineering to ensure high-quality design, construction, and maintenance of City systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assists with municipal project design and development of plans, specifications, and record drawings.
  • Conducts site and construction inspections (streets, sewer, water, stormwater, sidewalks, lead service lines, etc.) to ensure compliance with approved plans and municipal standards.
  • Prepares construction inspection logs, daily reports, testing results, material quantity records, and photographic documentation.
  • Supports and maintains municipal GIS maps and infrastructure records.
  • Reviews right-of-way, utility, and stormwater permits for completeness and standards.
  • Conducts pavement, drainage, and utility condition evaluations.
  • Prepares field reports, compiles data, and supports Capital Improvement Project documentation.
  • Communicates construction requirements, schedules inspections, responds to public or contractor inquiries, and supports field problem solving.
  • Keeps pace with technology and ongoing training requirements.
  • Completes additional duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Engineering.
  • Assists with Wastewater Utility inspections and reporting (i.e., FOG, amalgam, pretreatment compliance, etc.)
  • Responds to citizen inquiries and service complaints.
  • Participate in professional development and training sessions.
Qualifications

Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or related field

  • Five years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency with GIS, CAD, and municipal construction inspection.
  • Knowledge of municipal codes, ADA standards, stormwater regulations, traffic and roadway standards.
Salary & Benefits

The starting salary for this position is $70,000 with final compensation dependent upon qualifications and experience. This is a full-time position that includes a comprehensive benefits package with health, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO and retirement plans.
