Role Description

The Shop Manager is a full-time, hands on wrenching role located in Friesland, WI. This position is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, including performing, scheduling and coordinating maintenance and repair work for trucks and equipment. The Shop Manager will supervise two mechanics, manage parts inventory, ensure proper documentation of work orders, and uphold safety and compliance standards. Day-to-day tasks include problem solving the issues with equipment and fixing them, inspecting vehicles, prioritizing repairs, communicating with drivers and management about equipment status, and working with vendors and service providers as needed.

The role also involves monitoring costs, maintaining a clean and organized shop, and continuously improving processes to support efficient, reliable fleet performance.

Qualifications
  • Experience managing a truck, fleet, or equipment maintenance shop, including scheduling, workflow oversight, and resource allocation is desired, but experience as a diesel mechanic is a must.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of truck and trailer systems; ability to collaborate effectively with technicians and service providers.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements in a trucking or transportation environment; commitment to safe work practices.
  • Organizational and administrative skills, including recordkeeping, work order management, and basic computer proficiency.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities to supervise staff, coordinate with drivers, and work closely with company leadership.
  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet maintenance is strongly preferred.
  • Welding experience is extremely helpful.
