High volume, high quality painter, usually painting parts on a moving line. Apply powder or liquid paint to products where high grade and decorative finishes are required ensuring required film thickness and cosmetic requirements are met. Wears required PPE and follows all safety rules. Adjusts equipment as needed and trained to produce best finish economically. Cleans equipment and area as scheduled.
Mix finishes to specified color, consistency and viscosity for spraying or brushing application and adjust equipment to obtain the best finish requirements and economy. Maintain and keep equipment and area in a safe clean condition and working order. May regulate and operate baking or drying ovens, prepare surfaces by cleaning, filling, etc. and by performing the following duties.
- Understand and follow all safety rules.
- Understand gun, pump, and other equipment operations and makes adjustments as trained to produce quality parts economically.
- Follow proper paint procedures including distance from gun to part, flow rates, air pressure and overlap.
- May clean and prepare surface of article to be painted.
- Apply masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
- May operate E-coat system load control panel.
- May select and mix coating liquid to produce desired viscosity.
- Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Able to troubleshoot equipment.
- Rack work pieces on conveyor, inspect, and transfer parts into and out of department.
- May pour coating liquid into spray container and connect gun to air hose.
- Set up powder gun.
- May perform inventory transactions.
- Identify proper paint via structure information.
- Turn sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray.
- Pull trigger and direct spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
- Load and move materials to work area.
- Employee will be responsible for the safe handling, transfer & labeling of Hazardous Waste as detailed in the annual RCRA training class.
