Job SummaryAs the Fiber Splicing Technician, you will ultimately be responsible for splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing fiber optic cables. You will coordinate installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber infrastructure and deliver reliable network connectivity solutions. Your customers are Congruex field construction teams and telecommunications partners, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company’s success through network reliability, quality workmanship, and safe field execution.
Key Responsibilities- Perform end-of-line network testing to verify light levels and balanced signal transmission
- Prepare, label, and organize fiber optic cables for installation and splicing
- Build, seal, and maintain fiber cases, enclosures, tie points, and jumper cases
- Perform color-coded splicing, tray jumping, and multiple cable splicing within enclosures
- Read splice matrices, blueprints, and redline maps to identify fiber routes and assignments
- Troubleshoot fiber network issues, complete case swaps, audits, and enclosure rehabilitation
- Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs
- OSHA 10 certification required
- Experience in fiber splicing, telecommunications construction, or related field preferred
- Experience reading blueprints, splice matrices, and utility maps
- Ability to perform physical labor, climb ladders and poles, and work in confined spaces
- Ability to distinguish fiber colors accurately for proper connections
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Ability to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
- Previous hands‑on fiber splicing experience
- Experience with aerial and underground fiber installations
- Familiarity with fiber testing and splicing equipment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, squat, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods
- Work performed outdoors, in all weather conditions, in confined spaces, and at heights
- Must be able to wear required PPE including safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and applicable safety gear
- Must be able to pass a pre‑employment background check and drug screen
