Reports To: Construction Manager
Travel Potential: 10–25% (overnight travel to various sites as needed)
Compensation: $20.00 – $30.00 Hourly

As an Operator I, II, or III, you will ultimately be responsible for operating directional drilling equipment, locating predetermined bore paths, and supporting underground utility construction projects. You will coordinate field operations, maintain equipment, and deliver safe and efficient construction services.
As an Operator, your customers are internal construction teams and external clients, and you will contribute to company success through safety, productivity, and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to)- Operate directional drilling and various construction equipment in compliance with company safety policies and procedures
- Drill and/or locate predetermined bore paths while safely avoiding underground utilities and obstacles
- Load, unload, inspect, and maintain heavy equipment, vehicles, and trailers
- Read and interpret plans and specifications to support drilling operations
- Assist with conduit placement, potholing, proofing conduits, concrete work, asphalt placement, and trench support
- Communicate with supervisors and crew members regarding project requirements, safety, and jobsite progress
- Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required
- Minimum 1 year of directional drilling or locating experience in underground utility construction
- Experience operating heavy equipment near active utilities
- Ability to safely operate drilling equipment and related machinery
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
- Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and company safety regulations
- Knowledge of basic computer systems and shoring methods
- CDL with tanker endorsement or willingness to obtain
- DOT Medical Card or willingness to obtain
- Experience with Ditch Witch and Vermeer equipment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, and work outdoors for extended periods
- Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions and around heavy equipment
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and additional safety gear
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and MVR
