The ideal candidate will combine deep theoretical physics knowledge with practical experience in computational modeling environments to help shape next‑generation sensing, imaging, and phenomenology‑driven simulation capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, validate, and optimize physics‑based and phenomenology‑based optical models, including radiometry, imaging systems, laser propagation, and optical signatures.
  • Perform end‑to‑end modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) of EO/IR sensor performance under varying environmental, atmospheric, and operational conditions.
  • Lead or contribute to verification and validation (V&V) of modeling tools against empirical datasets.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, and analysts on integrated simulation frameworks.
  • Support test planning, algorithm development, data analysis, and model‑based requirements definition.
  • Document technical findings and present results to internal teams and customers.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in optical modeling and simulation.
  • Experience with optical simulation tools such as MODTRAN.
  • Ability to validate complex physics‑based models.
  • Secret clearance.
  • Master’s degree in Optical Physics, Physics, Applied Physics, or Electrical Engineering.

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with tools such as AFSIM, SOSM, or custom optical simulation codes.
  • Experience with GPU‑accelerated modeling, C++, CUDA, or real‑time simulation pipelines.
  • Experience with remote sensing, target signature modeling, hyperspectral imaging, IR imaging, or optical system design.
  • Experience integrating models into multi‑domain or system‑of‑systems simulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Top Secret clearance.
  • Doctorate degree in Optical Physics or related field.
Benefits
  • Health, life, disability, financial, and retirement benefits.
  • Paid leave, professional development, tuition assistance, work‑life programs, and dependent care.
  • Recognition awards program acknowledging employees for exceptional performance.
